(decommissioning of civil dumps; connecting public sewer system to purification plants; improvements to the water purification plant in Ronago; connecting part of Ponte Chiasso to the local authority water purification plant in Chiasso and surroundings; input of new data to the land register)

| Project to develop integrated tourism in the lake district of the Regio Insubrica |
The group is applying for funding for Interreg IIIa to build on the work carried out in the first stage (Interreg II).
The work includes:
- updating the Internet site
- the creation of integrated tourism packages that point up some of the winning features of the Insubrica area |
| Opportunities for cross-border collaboration in the fields of planning and transport |
- In general, proposals that have good prospects for cross-border collaboration at supra-municipal planning level, especially major road and rail transport projects.
- Feasibility study pertaining to possible approval for the collection of road traffic statistics in the Regio Insubrica.
- Regular updating of the map containing key organizational features of the Regio Insubrica “Elementi di organizzazione territoriale di valenza insubrica”.

- The group has completed its work, presenting a draft memorandum of understanding.
- The draft memorandum has been fairly well received by the competent authority in the Canton of Ticino, which is discussing it with the assessors of the Lombardy and Piedmont Regions with a view to formally adopting it |
| Coordinated efforts in the field of civil protection |
- The Italo-Swiss Convention, signed on 2 May 1995, came into force on 26 May 1998.
- The operational group mentioned in art. 14 of the Convention was set up on 12 February 2001.
- There are plans to continue to improve prevention and cooperation in emergency management (practical training for local and regional cross-border civil protection personnel)

- As per the conclusions on 30 November 2001, approved by the Steering Committee.
- The previous approach was confirmed, i.e. to proceed pragmatically and in stages (collaborative activities between CO and TI, VA and TI are still in progress), at the same time boosting information campaigns by the Regio Insubrica

The project is drawing to a close.
